JEE Main 2026 Overview

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct JEE Main 2026 for admissions into top engineering colleges like NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. The exam is held twice a year (session 1 in January & session 2 in April) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

JEE Main 2026 Important Dates (Tentative)

  • Release of notification : November 2025 

  • Registration begins : Session 1 (January) -  November 2025,  Session 2 (April) -  01 Feb 2026

  • Last date to apply : Session 1 (January) - December 2025, Session 2 (April) -  25th Feb 2026

  • Application Correction Window : Session 1 (January) - December 2025, Session 2 (April) -  Feb 2026

  • Admit Card release : Session 1 (January) - January 2026, Session 2 (April) -  April 2026

  • Exam Dates : Session 1 (January) - January 2026, Session 2 (April) -  02 - 09 April 2026

  • Result Announcement : Session 1 (January) - February 2026, Session 2 (April) -  May 2026

  • Counselling Process : June 2026

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Must have passed or be appearing in 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognized board.

  • Subjects Required: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects in 10+2.

  • NIOS & Diploma Holders: Eligible to apply. NIOS students should select their state of eligibility in the application.

  • Age Limit: No age limit specified by NTA, but candidates must meet the age requirements of the institute they wish to join

Application Process

  1. Registration: Enter basic details such as name, guardian’s details, contact number, and email ID.

  2. Fill Application Form: Provide academic information and exam center preferences.

  3. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable).

  4. Fee Payment: Pay the application fee online via credit/debit card, UPI, or net banking

Exam Pattern

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

  • Duration: 3 hours

  • Sections: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics

  • Question Types:
     
    Section A: 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) per subject
      Section B: 5 Numerical Value Questions per subject

  • Marking Scheme: +4 for correct answer, -1 for wrong answers, 0 for unattempted

  • Total Questions: 75 (25 Questions per subject)

  • Languages: English, Hindi, and other regional languages

Syllabus

The JEE Main 2026 syllabus is based on NCERT Class 11 and 12 topics:

  • Physics: Laws of motion, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Optics, etc.

  • Chemistry: Atomic structure, Chemical bonding, Organic chemistry, etc.

  • Mathematics: Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Probability, etc.
